In addition to offering print subscriptions and back issue orders, the Society for History Education is in the process of creating a full online archive for The History Teacher. Internet users may browse and search the journal at a variety of locations.
The History Cooperative: The Society has committed to providing free, ungated access to the past issues of The History Teacher at The History Cooperative website. The History Cooperative is a web-based electronic database built and designed to extend the scholarly outreach and capability of leading history journals by providing a unified network for historical research. The History Teacher Collection at The History Cooperative begins with Volume 34 (November 2000) and has materials added quarterly.
ERIC: The Society has partnered with the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) to offer abstracts and indexing for The History Teacher. The database is free, ungated, and provides external links for retrieving materials from online databases and from traditional physical library holdings. ERIC is sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education.
JSTOR: The Society's most comprehensive collection is at JSTOR, with with full-text PDFs of The History Teacher reaching back to Volume 1. JSTOR is a digital archive providing participating institutions access to hundreds of scholarly journals online. The History Teacher website features a partial Table of Contents and Index Archive, with external links to full-text databases. A physical archive of the print version of The History Teacher is maintained by The Society for History Education at its headquarters at California State University, Long Beach.

Classroom Use and Course Reader Copyrights: The Society for History Education accepts requests for copyright licensing at a per-item permission fee. However, the Society may elect to waive associated fees for non-profit educational use. Instructors assembling course readers may request permissions by contacting us at info@thehistoryteacher.org or by using the automated system at Copyright Clearance Center.
Reprint Permissions: The Society for History Education accepts requests for reprinting materials from The History Teacher in collected works publications, offering licensing at a per-item permission fee.
